I did not arrive at this book already knowing everything it contains. It was revealed to me… slowly, in the middle of client conversations, in the middle of my own leadership failures, in the middle of decades of trying to hold truth and love together and consistently dropping one of them. When I finally read the ‘red letters’ that share the words of Jesus, it clicked.
Every leader has a side. The truth-teller cuts clean but leaves people wounded. The peacemaker keeps the room warm but avoids what needs saying. Both are half-truths. Both are exhausting. Both are incomplete.
Jesus didn't choose between truth and love. He led them together.
This book is a call back to the leadership Jesus modeled, but it does not have a set of techniques. Instead, we focus on the impact of consistently returning to the Source from which both truth and love flow. I believe that Source is God, the Creator of all things.
The book walks the reader through the diagnostic half-truths most leaders inhabit, the blind sides those half-truths create, and the full truth that emerges only when leadership is rooted in union with the Father.
This is not a book about balance. Balance still keeps truth and love as separate quantities to manage. This is a book about integration.
If you have the gift of leading with love first, keep it! And learn to add enough truth that the message is clear.
If you have the gift of leading with truth first, keep it! And learn to add enough love that the message can land.
The goal is to find your leadership so joined to its Source that truth and love arrive together, in the same moment, from the same place.
